About Canadian Artist Sheri Gordon

Sheri GordonBorn and raised in Saskatchewan, artist Sheri Gordon brings into her art a lifelong passion for horses and drawing. Being completely self-taught, she seeks to bring out the life in the animals in her art by working in a highly realistic manner using a variety of mediums, including pastel, coloured pencil, acrylic and oil paint.

Sheri has exhibited in various shows both locally & internationally and has won several awards. She has been asked to judge several shows over the years, and provides one on one tutoring to budding artists in the Dalmeny area. Her works are highly sought after and collected throughout North America, and she does accept a very limited number of commissions for various animal-themed artworks.

Touting herself as an artist creating "equestrian art for the dreamer", Sheri hopes to find that special place in our souls where the horse will always be...magic.

When not behind the computer or the easel, you can find this full time mom out on the racetrack with her modestly powered racecar. Having grown up with a love for the sport, it is something she enjoys immensely, and has made quite a presence for herself and her racing team - Black Horse Racing.

Cruiser Being a horseless horselover wasn't easy. Sheri endured many years of angst, taking joy in seeing horses whenever she could. When she could bear it no longer, however, Fate found a way to make her lifelong dream come true and bring a sparkle back to her eye. She and her family once shared their half-acre property with a little AMHA registered miniature black stallion, Diamond B Night Cruiser.

Cruiser became that Black Horse of Sheri's dreams; A little buddy, Cruiser made himself right at home in her studio, and enjoyed playing with her siberian husky, Roxy. At only 31" tall, Cruiser was too small to ride, even for the smallest of children, but that didn't concern Sheri at all. He was "just what the doctor ordered" to fill that void that had been in her life, and provided her with an equine companion to inspire her on. It was not meant to be forever, though, as new zoning regulations forced her to give up her little buddy whom she misses dearly.

First RideAlmost as though God himself intervened at the right time in her life, however, Sheri is now happily leasing a very beautiful Morgan cross gelding named Tattoo, who is the son of JMF Boogie Beam, a black Morgan who has modelled for many of her paintings. A novice in the saddle, Sheri has been progressing in her riding skills with her new partner. She looks forward to spending the next few years building her confidence in the saddle which will surely translate to what she sees on her canvas. Much thanks to Joan Foulston for allowing Sheri the opportunity to lease this very handsome fellow!
